Emil's musical expression is as intriguing as his family background. On the Czech side he was born into one of Europe's greatest scientific families, and on his Indian side a prominent musical lineage. Since completing his masters in mathematics he has devoted himself entirely to music and divides his time between tabla and drum kit. In Prague he plays with top jazz musicians including Milan Svoboda, and often tours in Eastern Europe. He studies tabla under the world renowned Pandit Swapan Chawdhari, traveling to Switzerland and California for intensive month long workshops. Such a combination of jazz drummer and serious tabla player is the key ingredient of friedsitar's sound, providing the link between East and West.
